Explanatory Notes
The following notes should be read in conjunction with the grant

FORM MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL. FAILURE TO PROVIDE RELEVANT INFORMATION
MAY RESULT IN INSTANT REJECTION OF YOUR APPLICATION.

course. Except in exceptional circumstances the Trust do not make
retrospective awards or grants.
b) University Courses
Applications for awards or grants in respect of university courses
which commence in September/October of any year must be received by

Note 2: Present Address
The Trust was originally set up to help students who satisfy
certain residential conditions as follows:-
Only those persons ordinarily resident, for at least 5 years, within
the Glasgow municipal area as it stood before the re-organisation of
local government in 1975 are eligible to apply to this Trust for
financial assistance. Those here only for the purpose of study are
excluded
Note 3: Telephone Number
On occasion it may be necessary to call an applicant in order to
discuss or clarify a point noted on their application form. It is
important that, where possible, applicants supply a home telephone
number in addition to a day time telephone number. In circumstances
where it is not possible to supply a home number, please state this
on the application form.

generally noted that the Trust may call for proof of any costs
claimed under this section. In cases where course fees are eligible
to be met by the institution, please write Nil against Fees.

income, including receipt of any benefit income. The Trust may ask
for documentary proof of any income source.

The Trust encourages applicants to apply for other sources of
funding . Awards received from other sources subsequent to your
initial application to the Glasgow Educational and Marshall Trust
must be reported to the Trust.
Note 8: Referees
We require two references in support of your application. Both
must be from a responsible person at your school, college,
university or place of employment. In addition, we require
